Liverpool target Mateo Kovacic is now in talks with Manchester City as he prepares to leave Chelsea this summer.
It was 90min who claimed that Jürgen Klopp wants to bring the Croatia international to Anfield.
Now – however – there is a problem for the Reds.
What’s the story?
Well – according to N1 in Bosnia – Kovacic is currently holding talks with Manchester City.
The 28-year-old will soon enter the final 12 months of his deal at Chelsea, and Todd Boehly is ready to sell his No.8 for a sum of £30m seeing as an agreement over a contract extension does not appear likely.
That would see Chelsea make a loss on their initial £40m outlay to sign Kovacic from Real Madrid.

Liverpool are hoping to sign the Croatian as they attempt to overhaul their midfield department, whereas N1 believe he would arrive at Manchester City to replace Kalvin Phillips as a backup option for Pep Guardiola.
Kovacic has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea so far this season, scoring two goals while also providing one assist.
Kovacic availability is a unique opportunity
Liverpool must attempt to hijack Kovacic’s talks with Manchester City, as his availability represents a rare opportunity.
The Athletic believe Chelsea have to sell players before June 30th in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, so a deal for the Croatian playmaker could actually be announced early in the summer transfer window.
Kovacic is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and at the age of 28, he still has plenty of time remaining in his prime years.
In our view, Liverpool could sway him towards Merseyside with the promise of being a regular starter, whereas – by the sounds of it – he would just be a squad option at Manchester City.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as anything could happen.
