Newcastle United transfer target, Rodrygo, has told Bruno Guimarães ‘you are ace’ on Instagram after his brace during his side’s 2-1 win against Leicester City on Sunday.
In January, Guimarães arrived on Newcastle soil as perhaps their marquee signing and their standout purchase.
Given that the Brazil international joined a team, at the time, that were winning games, he didn’t get into Eddie Howe’s XI straightaway.
But as soon as Guimarães has tasted those regular minutes, he has produced magic that is already making him a cult hero at St James’ Park.
Guimarães expressed his delight on social media after yesterday’s win, with Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo, who is a £38m Newcastle United summer transfer target, praising him in the comments section.
Matt Targett, Fabinho, Vinicius Junior and Emil Krafth were some of the other players to praise Newcastle’s new midfield hero also.
What a turnaround for Newcastle United, who are now sitting 14th in the Premier League table.
They are three points behind a possible top ten finish, and if that happens, then it would be even crazier given where the club were at the start of the campaign.
It wasn’t so long ago that the Toon Army faithful weren’t even watching their team win a game, nevermind now being well clear of the relegation zone.
But these final few weeks of the season, for once in a long time, can be watched with relief for the St James’ Park faithful rather than worry.
