Tottenham Hotspur might have done Arsenal a favour last summer, as it turns out.
Spurs won the race to sign Yves Bissouma last June in a £35 million deal [Eurosport].
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal were among those who seriously challenged Tottenham for his signature.
And given the amount of hints that the player had dropped in the previous year or so about wanting to join the Gunners, the Emirates Stadium faithful would’ve been disappointed to see him join their North London rivals, instead.
But fast forward six months and honestly, Bissouma doesn’t look the same player.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder struggled on Boxing Day as Tottenham drew 2-2 away to Brentford.
During the game, Jamie O’Hara tweeted out that the player was ‘absolutely shocking’ on the day – as covered by HITC Sport – and at the moment you won’t find many Arsenal supporters berating missing out on him any longer.
At 26, Bissouma is still a quality midfielder and one who has the prime of his career ahead of him.
But by the same token, the Mali international has only started seven Premier League games since joining and that right there is a sign that the player himself certainly isn’t thriving under Antonio Conte, for whatever reason.
