Liverpool aren’t known to be all-action in the transfer market or hog the main limelight like other teams would.
But could the Reds still add more faces to their ranks this summer, after securing the signature of Darwin Nunez after Sadio Mane left? Paul Merson shared his fear over the deal.
Well, Real Madrid forward, Marco Asensio, is someone who could still swap the colours of the La Liga giants for those on Merseyside.
The 26-year-old has already shared his thoughts on Liverpool and their star man on the right, Mo Salah.
Back in April, Asensio labelled Liverpool as a ‘wonderful’ club and added that Salah is a ‘special’ player and a player who the £34 million star enjoys watching, as he told Al-Destur Magazine.
“Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world and he has been at the forefront of football for many years,” said Asensio.
“He is in a wonderful club like Liverpool, which fought and competed in great battles to win great titles over many years.
“Mohamed Salah, in short, is a player with a special and great talent and a very good left leg that he plays with distinction, it is always a pleasure to watch any game he plays in.”
DO LIVERPOOL NEED MORE FIREPOWER?
Asensio is someone who can play across the front three, as well in-behind the forward, but given that Jurgen Klopp doesn’t play a ten, then it rules out that option for the Spain international.
In truth, is Asensio going to get ahead of the players Klopp currently has at his disposal, so he would be brought in as a squad player and it’s probably something the club don’t need right now.
If anything, Liverpool probably need to bulk up their midfield, or allow players like Alex Oxlade-Chamerbalin to head for the exit door, and then bring in new faces.
Someone like Jude Bellingham has been spoken about a lot, but perhaps he is someone for next summer because Borussia Dortmund might not be too keen to sell another star player in the same window as Erling Haaland.
