So, do Liverpool need to spend a club-record fee to sign Bellingham this summer? Well, the Reds do need a midfielder that can contribute to the attack. Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struggled last term.
Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are set to enter the final 12 months of their Anfield contracts and could go this summer. There is talk that Keita could even be part of a swap deal to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Liverpool would love Bellingham – but having already broken their record transfer fee by signing Darwin Nunez, is it realistic? Hardly, but Liverpool will know they need to keep up with Manchester City.
