Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are hoping to seal Ibrahim Sangare’s transfer with the PSV Eindhoven star admitting that he dreams of playing in the Premier League, speaking to De Telegraaf.

That ‘dream’ could become a reality sooner rather than later.

Because, with the summer window creaking open, scouts are flocking to the Philips Stadium like a school of hungry piranha fish around a bloody rump steak.

Crystal Palace want a dynamic defensive midfielder in order to ease the pressure on the 30-something James McArthur and Cheick Kouyate, and Sangare fits the bill (The Sun).

According to Voetbal International, Steven Gerrard watched the £30 million-rated Ivory Coast international in the flesh recently, though the Aston Villa boss will face competition from, amongst others, Leicester City and a nouveau-riche Newcastle.

Ibrahim Sangare transfer could be on this summer

“I am a PSV player, and I am concentrating on the games we have left this season. I don’t have my mind on other things,” Sangare begins, with PSV not yet mathematically out of the Eredivisie title race.

“After that, I’ll go on holiday, and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects. Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. It is the biggest and most important league in the world.

“As a little boy in Ivory Coast, Chelsea was the club of my heart. Because Didier Drogba, the best Ivorian striker ever, played there. Later, I also became a fan of Manchester City, when Yaya Toure played there.”

With so many clubs in the mix for Sangare’s signature, the likes of Aston Villa and Palace are understandably reluctant to put all their eggs in one basket. Villa opened talks with Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara over the weekend, per the Daily Mail.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are in negotiations with Lens ace Cheick Doucoure.

“Ibrahim Sangare is better on one leg than Leicester’s midfield. This season, he is the king of PSV,” says club legend Aad De Mos.

“Sangare is not only suitable for Leicester, he can also easily join an even higher club. He can easily play at Tottenham and certainly also at Arsenal. He is better than Albert Lokonga.

“Sangare is a great player. I think 35 million euros is a good price. He would be first on the team sheet for any of those teams (Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs).

“You need someone like that, who takes the ball and always puts the boot in. And, lately, he has also become dangerous in the opposition penalty area.”
