It was the sort of goal you needed to watch a few times to work out the mere physics of it. Just how on earth did the winger – linked with a potential £30 million move to the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace – do that.

On the third or even the fourth viewing, we sort of worked it out.

One of the rising stars of Serie A appeared to contort his body and flicked a cross with the outside of his boot back across the goal and into the opposite corner. Explaining it and pulling it off, however, are two very different things.

It you fancy checking out an all-new type of finish – something you’ve probably never seen before and might never do again – then fire up YouTube and watch in awe as Matias Soule puts forward his very own Puskas contender during Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Mexico’s under-23s.

Crystal Palace like Juventus’ Matias Soule

HITC Football understands that there is interest from Crystal Palace in Soule. Southampton like the Juventus-owned winger too, though their hopes probably rest on whether promotion can be secured. Soule, after all, is valued at around £30 million these days, and that piece of Mexico magic will not diminish his ever-rising price-tag. The Saints do, at least, have a dialogue with Juve after sending Carlos Alcarez on loan to the Serie A giants in January.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport,, Newcastle United held talks with Juventus chief Cristiano Guintoli ahead of the January transfer window too. Soule, who has scored ten Serie A goals on loan at Frosinone this term, would be an upgrade on the limited Jacob Murphy and the eternally-frustrating Miguel Almiron.

Now, the man himself models his game on Lionel Messi, cutting in from the right onto his left foot. Veteran Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri drew comparisons with Diego Maradona after Soule lashed in a stunning free-kick against his side recently.

Former Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina midfielder Massimo Orlando, however, draws similarities between Soule and another Albiceleste ace.

‘Like Paulo Dybala’

“He’s a bit like (Paulo) Dybala,” Orlando tells Tuttomercatoweb, Soule sharing the Roma star’s wand of a left boot and his penchant for the spectacular. “At Juve he risks being on the bench with (Massimiliano) Allegri.

“And, if I were his agent, I would think about (leaving).”

HITC understands that, after a stunning breakthrough season in Italy, Soule may consider aiming higher than a Crystal Palace side mired forever in mid-table. An ambitious, Saudi-backed Newcastle, despite a disappointing campaign of their own, may be a more tempting destination

“My future?,” Soule tells D Sports Radio. “I don’t know what I’ll do yet. It’s too early. I had offers from Saudi Arabia in January, but now I don’t have anything concrete.

“If you give me the chance to choose the league, I’ll choose England. (The Premier League) is one of the best in the world. It would be a dream to be there.”

HITC have also been told that Palace boss Oliver Glasner is keen on Rapid Vienna duo Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl. Newcastle’s summer plans, meanwhile, will again be dictated by those Financial Fair Play concerns, The Magpies missing out on the likes of Radu Dragusin and Kalvin Phillips in January.
