Matias Soule’s shooting ability is drawing comparisons with Diego Maradona after Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Newcastle United reportedly held talks to sign Juventus’ Serie A starlet.
The Frosinone loanee took his tally to nine for the season during Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari. And, no matter how many more times Matias Soule hits the net between now and the end of May, he’ll struggle to better the finish which guaranteed his side three potentially invaluable points in the Serie A relegation battle.
Soule stepped up and whipped a sumptuous free-kick over the ball and into the top corner of the Cagliari net with his trusty left boot.
It was a strike which had visiting coach Claudio Ranieri drawing comparisons between the reported Newcastle United and Crystal Palace target and one of the finest footballers of all time. And surely the best ever to step foot on Italian soil.
Matias Soule earns Diego Maradona comparisons

“When you have champions like Soule who shoots like Maradona or (Brazilian icon) Zico, you just have to applaud him,” ex-Leicester, Chelsea and Fulham coach Ranieri sighs, his quotes provided by Tuttomercatoweb.
“This is (a moment of) beauty for those who come to the stadium and pay for the ticket.”
Linked with Newcastle and Crystal Palace
The Frosinone supporters have certainly been spoiled with Soule this season, the 20-year-old a revelation since joining on loan from title-challengers Juventus.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle and Palace both held talks with Juve director Cristiano Giuntoli before the turn of the year, with Roy Hodgson’s struggling, often toothless side reportedly willing to stump up a club-record fee of £30 million.
Frosinone supporters can sleep easy for the time being, however, with Soule almost certain to see out the remainder of his short-term contract before decisions are made over his long-term future.
“I think so, I will stay until the end of the season,” Soule himself tells DAZN.
“Soule (is a player) many wanted, and he is still heavily followed. But Juve have told us, at least until today, that they are very happy with the path that he is taking,” adds Frosinone chief Guido Angelozzi tells Tuttomercatoweb.
“So, I am convinced that (Soule) will stay until June.”
