Arsenal could miss out on the signing of RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku, with AC Milan now eyeing a move for the midfielder amid a takeover of the Italian club.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the France international is one of four players Milan could sign this summer should Investcorp complete the takeover of the Rossoneri, with the likes of Sebastien Haller and Nicolo Zaniolo also lined up.
- Three players who could replace Fernandinho at Manchester City
- £166m superstar among best XI of under-23 free agents this summer
Nkunku has been one of the best players in Europe this season, with the 24-year-old bagging an incredible 30 goals in all competitions along with 18 assists, with the midfielder playing a key role in Leipzig’s run to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.
As you can expect, such a season has drawn some major interest Nkunku’s way, with ESPN reporting that Arsenal are just one of the many sides interested in the Bundesliga sensation.
However, Milan’s interest could prove to be problematic for Arsenal, with Gazzetta dello Sport noting that the Serie A side could spend as much as €300m (£250m) on new players this summer should the takeover be completed in the coming weeks.
With so much money potentially at Milan’s disposal this summer, the Italian side could blow Arsenal out of the water for Nkunku, who could have been a sensational addition for the Gunners next season.
Arsenal could stand no chance in beating Milan to Nkunku signing

A goalscorer will be Arsenal’s main priority this summer, and given Nkunku’s form this campaign, the Frenchman could be perfect for what Mikel Arteta’s side are lacking, yet Milan’s interest could cause problems.
After all, the Rossoneri are set for a UEFA Champions League finish this season, and for Nkunku, playing in the competition would be appealing despite Arsenal’s stature and the project the north London side are currently embarking on.
