West Ham United’s summer transfer window did not go as well as the Hammers perhaps would have liked.
Only Vladimir Coufal, Craig Dawson and Said Benrahma were added to last season’s West Ham squad – and all three arrived late.
It was, of course, a difficult period for most clubs, with the Covid-19 pandemic causing upheaval throughout the sport.
The winter window is little more than two months away, however.
And several of West Ham’s rumoured summer targets – including the following three – could be going cheap as their contracts draw to a close.

Steve Cook
Club: AFC Bournemouth
Position: Centre-back
Linked by: Daily Star
What’s the latest? Cook has yet to miss a single minute of Bournemouth’s Championship action this season and is one of the reasons they remain unbeaten and on course for an immediate return to the Premier League. There has been no talk yet – at least not publicly – regarding a new contract being signed. But it remains to be seen if West Ham would even want him, after Dawson’s arrival.

John Lundstram
Club: Sheffield United
Position: Central midfield
Linked by: Sheffield Star
What’s the latest? Lundstram has started all six of Sheffield United’s Premier League fixtures this season, despite having continued to resist their attempts to tie him down. On Thursday, the Blades boss Chris Wilder confirmed media reports that his side will look to sell Lundstram in January, to avoid losing him for free. His position is one in which West Ham look a little light.

Josh King
Club: AFC Bournemouth
Position: Striker
Linked by: The Sun
What’s the latest? King has only appeared twice for Bournemouth this season, just once as a starter, and has yet to score or assist a goal. As with his teammate, Cook, there is nothing to suggest as yet that a new deal is on the cards. West Ham are also lacking in centre forwards, although Michail Antonio has impressed there this campaign.
