Blackburn are now willing to accept just £8 million for Adam Armstrong as Premier League trio West Ham United, Southampton and Brighton go head-to-head, as reported by the Mail.

When quizzed about the future of his talismanic striker, Rovers manager Tony Mowbray insisted that any club looking to sign the former Newcastle youngster would have to stump up ‘ridiculous money’.

Unfortunately for Blackburn, however, Armstrong’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022.

With the quicksilver striker unlikely to sign an extension – Rovers finished a lowly 15th in the Championship last season after all – Blackburn may have little choice but to sell their star man for a vastly-reduced transfer fee.

Is Adam Armstrong heading to West Ham or Southampton?

Armstrong, the most prolific striker to wear blue and white since the legendary Alan Shearer, is now available for as little as £8 million.

This comes just 48 hours after the Lancashire Telegraph reported that an initial £20 million asking price threatened to scupper Armstrong’s chances of a summer move to the top flight.

Southampton, Brighton, Norwich City and West Ham are all keen.

Hammers boss David Moyes even contacted Mowbray directly in February to announce his interest in a forward who, with 29 goals, found the net from open play more regularly than any other player in the Championship last season.

It is no secret that Brighton, meanwhile, are crying out for a reliable centre-forward with a lack of end product continuing to undermine their progress under Graham Potter.

It seems that Brighton side are prioritising a deal for Stuttgart’s Argentina international Nicolas Gonzalez instead.

According to the Guardian, a club-record £25 million deal has been agreed with the Bundesliga ace.
