Is Sergio Reguilon leaving Tottenham Hotspur? Well, not if his latest Instagram post is anything to go by.
It was reported by The Evening Standard earlier this month that the former Real Madrid player was surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte and that Spurs would be listening to offers for him this summer.
Reguilon missed Tottenham’s end-of-season heroics due to injury, with Ryan Sessegnon establishing himself as Conte’s best option for the left wing-back position with some glowing performances.
The Lilywhites were brilliant toward the end of the campaign, winning four of their last five Premier League games – a 1-1 draw at Liverpool being the only blemish – to nick Champions League qualification away from stuttering Arsenal.
And on Thursday, Reguilon posted an Instagram message about Tottenham’s top-four finish.
Potential Reguilon hint
It’s very possible that at least in the Spain international’s mind that there’s no substance to the speculation.
Would Reguilon – a £27 million signing in 2020 under Jose Mourinho – be celebrating Tottenham’s return to the Champions League if he didn’t think, at this moment, that he’d be around to play in this very same competition?
It’s possible, but doubtful.
The truth is despite not setting the Premier League alight since Conte took the reins in November, Reguilon is a very good footballer, heralded by supporters of the North London club at one point last season.
If Sergio Reguilon leaving Tottenham Hotspur was likely, he probably wouldn’t have posted this on Instagram.
