Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is still weighing up whether Al Ittihad winger Jota is the right fit for the Premier League.

Al Ittihad misfit Jota wants to sign for Tottenham Hotspur in January but Ange Postecoglou is yet to make a final decision.

That is according to a report from The Sun, who report that Jota is ‘keen’ to leave Al Ittihad and join forces with Postecoglou again.

Jota was a star under Postecoglou at Celtic, hitting 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games for the Bhoys.

The former Benfica talent joined Al Ittihad in a £25million deal over the summer – but the move has gone all wrong for Jota.

Jota wants to join Tottenham Hotspur

Jota has found himself on the fringes of the Al Ittihad side and there has been strong speculation surrounding a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sun now claim that Jota is keen to join Tottenham and reunite with Postecoglou.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Tottenham were ramping up their efforts to sign Jota on loan for the second half of the season.

However, The Sun suggest that Postecoglou hasn’t yet decided whether Jota is a good fit for the Premier League.

The report adds that Wolverhampton Wanderers have also shown an interest in signing Jota in January.

Postecoglou is still making up his mind but he may need to come to a decision quickly with other clubs lurking.

Jota to Spurs makes sense in January

We can understand Postecoglou being a little unsure here.

As much as Jota is a quality player, the standards at Tottenham are much higher than at Celtic or Al Ittihad.

Impressing in Scotland and then failing to make a big impact in Saudi Arabia may leave some Spurs fans a little unsure.

Postecoglou needs to figure out if he thinks Jota can make the step up to Premier League action but we still think a move makes sense.

Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic are both out injured and Tottenham need another option on the flanks, with Jota’s familiarity under Postecoglou a major bonus.

A loan would at least give Postecoglou a first-hand look at whether Jota makes the adjustment to the Premier League and he would surely pick Spurs over Wolves thanks to the Australian.
