Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their interest in Al Ittihad winger Jota ahead of the January transfer window.

Jota is becoming a top target for Tottenham Hotspur with Ange Postecoglou chasing a January reunion.

That is according to The Times, who claim that Spurs have ‘stepped up their interest’ in signing Jota.

Tottenham are without two wingers right now with Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic both out with significant injuries.

Son Heung-min is now playing more centrally and Tottenham could focus on signing another winger in the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur ramping up Jota interest

The Times now claim that Tottenham are moving in to land Al Ittihad winger Jota with the January window just over a month away.

The Portuguese winger worked with Postecoglou at Celtic and they were a match made in heaven.

Jota smashed 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games, becoming a fan favourite at Celtic whilst producing real moments of magic.

Al Ittihad pounced over the summer, landing Jota in a £25million deal before things all turned wrong for him in Saudi Arabia.

Jota has found himself on the fringes of the Al Ittihad side and he may now want to leave just months after joining.

Tottenham now want a loan deal, seemingly encouraged amid reports that Jota would want to rejoin Postecoglou over heading to Newcastle United.

Tottenham should chase permanent option in Jota move

A loan deal suits Tottenham from a budget perspective, but they should certainly look to get a permanent option in this move.

Jota doesn’t appear to have a big future at Al Ittihad and Tottenham would be wise to have a fixed fee in mind in case the Portuguese ace shines again under Postecoglou.

Hailed as a ‘genius’ by Ally McCoist, Jota seems like the kind of talent who could bring a spark to the Tottenham attack and provide great competition down the left flank.

Postecoglou will be absolutely vital here; he knows Jota very well and will have an idea of whether he can be a long-term Premier League player or just a short-term stop-gap.

We think Jota has the potential to become a star in England and if Tottenham do make a loan move, having that option for a long-term stay would be ideal.
