Crystal Palace have made their move for Aaron Ramsey with Juventus hoping to sell the Serie A misfit to a Premier League club before the January transfer window closes, according to Calciomercato.
Two weeks ago, Juve coach Max Allegri confirmed that he would not stand in Ramsey’s way if the seldom-seen Welsh international found a new club before February 1.
“Aaron Ramsey is now set to leave Juventus,” Allegri said, via Fabrizio Romano. “We’re working on it. This is 99 per cent sure.”
A fortnight on, one of Juventus’ midfielders does appear to be closing in on a move away from Turin. It’s not Ramsey, however.
While Arsenal are pushing ahead with a deal that will see former Barcelona playmaker Arthur Melo move to the Emirates Stadium, things have gone rather quiet as far as Ramsey is concerned.
Will Aaron Ramsey return to the Premier League?
Everton, meanwhile, are in no position to make a move for Ramsey having parted with both their manager and their director of football in recent times.
That leaves Crystal Palace as perhaps the most likely, Premier League-based destination for the one-time Arsenal favourite.
Calciomercato claim that Palace have expressed their interest in the last few days.
Juventus would obviously prefer to sell Ramsey. Some have suggested that a bid in the region of just £4 million could do the trick.

But beggars can’t be choosers.
And, with Juve desperate to get his £250,000-a-week pay packet off the wage bill, CM add that a short-term loan deal could also be on the cards. One that would see Juventus stump up a sizeable portion of Ramsey’s eye-watering wages.
That will be music to the ears of Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira.
After all, Palace’s highest-earner, Wilfried Zaha, is reported to earn around half the fee Ramsey takes home at Juventus (Spotrac).
“We are talking about a top player and a footballer that can make a difference,” Vieira said earlier this month. “If he wants to return to the Premier League, he can be a big hit.”
