Who is leaving Tottenham in January?

Well only time will tell who Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici cull from the first-team squad.

But being honest, there’s a number of players who Spurs could and should look to offload in the January transfer window.

And here, HITC Football looks at three of them.

Matt Doherty

The Republic of Ireland international is behind Emerson Royal in the pecking order which, given how poor the Brazilian is a lot of the time, says a lot for how little Conte rates Doherty.

He is a good player, but he turns 31 in a few weeks and being just ‘good’ shouldn’t cut it at Tottenham, for what the Lilywhites want to achieve going forward.

Lucas Moura

Labelled ‘special’ by Jamie Carragher [Sky Sports], the former Paris Saint-Germain winger was once a big player for the North Londoners.

These days, however, he is struggling and it’s mostly down to injury.

Lucas hasn’t started a single Premier League game all season, with eight cameo appearances totalling only 90 minutes.

He is very much a fringe player, firmly behind Dejan Kulusevski in that regard and even when the Sweden international is out, is a 30-year-old Lucas the answer to replace him? Arguably not.

If he’s fit by January, Conte and Paratici should look for buyers.

Bryan Gil

Months before Conte took over from Nuno Espirito Santo, Paratici spent £21 million on signing the Spanish winger [Daily Mail].

But by virtue of the fact that he’s only managed 10 Premier League appearances since joining Tottenham 18 months ago – all from the bench – you could argue that he isn’t really a Conte player.

The potential is there for sure, but this is a 21-year-old who simply has to be playing for the sake of his ongoing development.

And is he going to play regularly under the Italian manager? Well, the writing is already on the wall in that regard.
