Club Brugge star Andreas Skov Olsen ‘should play for Tottenham Hotspur’ with the Premier League-linked Denmark international a big fish in a small Belgian pond.
That is the view of Paul Okon, a former Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Watford defender who, with an Australian passport in his pocket, obviously possesses a detailed knowledge of one Ange Postecoglou.
And, as far as he is concerned, Andreas Skov Olsen is a player tailor-made for Ange-ball, backing the Club Brugge talisman to make the step up from one of Europe’s B-list leagues to the summit of European football with Tottenham Hotspur.
Skov Olsen urged for Tottenham move

“Andreas should never be playing for Club Brugge. And I don’t say that out of a lack of respect for Club!,” Okon tells Het Laaste Nieuws of the 24-year-old, who was the subject of interest from Rangers before leaving Bologna for Brugge in 2022.
“Skov Olsen is a footballer for the absolute top of European football. He should play for Tottenham, with their Australian manager Postecoglou. That’s how good Andreas is.
“You have to ask him why he still plays in Belgium…”
With 17 goals and five assists to his name this season already, it certainly seems like only a matter of time before Skov Olsen – likened to Ryan Giggs by Tottenham ace and Denmark team-mate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – outgrows a relatively small pond and heads for warmer waters.
Spurs have already been credited with an interest. Het Nieuwsblad claimed that Spurs were sending scouts to watch Skov Olsen in action during the World Cup in Qatar.
The London giants could yet step up their interest, though any deal is more likely to take place in the summer than in January with Timo Werner arriving on loan from RB Leipzig for the next few months.
Werner, alongside £26 million centre-half Radu Dragusin, could make his debut under Postecoglou away to Manchester United on Sunday.
Likened to Salah, Hazard and Arjen Robben
Skov Olsen’s penchant for cutting inside onto his left foot, meanwhile, has drawn inevitable under rather understandable comparisons with Arjen Robben and Liverpool superstar Mo Salah of late.
“He is a top player,” Danish reporter Klaus Egelund tells Het Nieuwsblad.
“He is an Eden Hazard type. But, since he’s left-footed and plays on the right, you could better compare him to (Arjen) Robben or (Mohamed) Salah.
“Like them, he is a fast player who likes to come inside and then shoot at goal with great precision. That is his great strength.”
