Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin have been pictured together for the first time as Tottenham Hotspur’s two January signings prepare to make a Premier League debut against Manchester United this weekend.
A common criticism of Tottenham under Daniel Levy is that they have often left it late in the window to make a move for their leading targets. Too late, at times.
There is something rather novel – and more than a little welcome – then about the sight of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin posing for photos together before January has even reached the halfway stage.

Of course, in Werner’s case, this was not a deal Levy had to shell out on. The former Chelsea striker joins on loan from RB Leipzig, a deal which could become permanent for £15 million in the summer.
Tottenham’s hand was forced, meanwhile, in pursuit of Radu Dragusin. Leave it any later and the £26 million acquisition from Genoa might be wearing Bayern Munich colours right now.
Tottenham land Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner
“(A centre-back) was a priority position for us in the window,” Postecoglou tells Football London, Spurs fighting off Napoli and AC Milan as well as the Bundesliga champions for their new number six, Dragusin.
“We knew that, if the right opportunity came up in January, we’d move. We did a fair bit of work on (the Dragusin deal). Once we knew the direction we were going in, Johan (Lange, technical director) and his team did a lot of background work on him. After my chats with him I could tell how he would fit in.
“(And Werner) was a really good opportunity. I had a good chat with Johan about it. I felt Timo would be a really good fit for us.”
Spurs newbies could make debut at Old Trafford
Tottenham travel to top-four rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Werner is in line to make his Spurs debut against the Red Devils. Another club who took an interest in bringing him back to England this month. Dragusin may feature too, although that is dependent on any remaining red tape being cleared first.
“From what I’m told, (Dragusin’s work permit) shouldn’t be a problem,” Postecoglou adds. “If all the relevant paperwork comes through, he’ll be in the squad.”
