Ryan Sessegnon could be back in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt on Sunday.
Spurs kick off their Premier League campaign with a visit of champions Manchester City.
Sessegnon, a £20 million signing under Mauricio Pochettino two years ago, spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim and hasn’t kicked a ball for the North Londoners since March of 2020.
But he’s back at Hotspur Way and back in training after a stint on the sidelines earlier in the summer.
Here’s the 4-word message that the former Fulham star sent on Twitter this afternoon:
Big season
This could be a massive season for Sessegnon.
He remains a very popular figure among Tottenham fans and they’ll love to see him finally arrive – in the delivery sense of the word.
His first season was a bit of a damp squib, with his second being spent in Germany.
But with Sergio Reguilon inconsistent, and Ben Davies potentially leaving the Lilywhites, there’s a real opportunity for the 21-year-old to stake a serious claim to be Nuno Espirito Santo’s best left-back.
According to Football London last month, Nuno is very excited to work with the player – who he wanted at Wolves – and a spot in the first XI shouldn’t be dismissed against City this weekend.
