It’s fair to say that Cody Drameh annoyed Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United earlier this year.
With only three Premier League appearances under his belt this season, Drameh requested a loan to the Championship and later wound up joining Cardiff City.
Bielsa, who left his role as Leeds boss in February, was the opposite of pleased and he accused the player of ‘abandoning’ his parent club in an angry interview via The Daily Mail.
The Argentine manager had been managing an injury crisis in West Yorkshire at the time and Drameh’s departure did nothing to help those worries.
However, the 20-year-old, a £1 million signing in 2020, will feel utterly vindicated in his decision to leave Elland Road temporarily.
That’s because despite only joining in January, Drameh has just been named as City’s Player of the Season.
According to Wales Online, the right-back’s impact since arriving has been ‘marked’ due to his ‘energetic’ performances.
The London-born defender has started a staggering 21 Championship outings since arriving in the second tier, showing the sort of resistance to injury that Bielsa – who was replaced by Jesse Marsch – could’ve done with in Yorkshire.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Drameh has a long-term future at Leeds.
The youngster is reported to have told Wales Online that he would prefer to stay at Cardiff, but Premier League football might be a more regular prospect for the player next season and turning that down seems unlikely.
