Back in January, Leeds prodigy Cody Drameh appeared to anger Marcelo Bielsa after he forced a short-term loan move to Cardiff.

The £1m prospect annoyed Bielsa, as the Argentine felt the 20-year-old should’ve stayed and taken advantage of injuries within the squad.

As quoted by Leeds Live, Bielsa said: “I did not think he needed to play games elsewhere. He was a player who was very necessary with all of the absences we have. He preferred to go and play outside of Leeds.

“In a situation where opportunities for youngsters has increased clearly, in this case, Drameh would prefer to experiment outside our team. What I imagined as a great opportunity, he imagined it in a different way. Clearly, I calculated things wrongly.”

Now, with some impressive performances for Cardiff under his belt, Drameh is presumably delighted that Bielsa has gone.

What’s the story?

Well, some Leeds fans felt Drameh would never play for Leeds again after his falling out with Bielsa.

That may sound dramatic, but the South American didn’t pick up his ‘El Loco’ nickname for nothing – it wouldn’t have surprised us if he really did never pick the young defender again.

Now, however, Drameh will feel he has a fantastic opportunity to make an impact on the first-team under Jesse Marsch, who has already placed his trust in youngsters such as Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt.

Cody Drameh can shine for Leeds next season

In our view, the England Under-21 international can become a first-team regular at Elland Road next season.

Drameh has made 16 appearances on loan at Cardiff, playing 90 minutes in all but one of these outings while providing three assists.

He dazzled Leeds fans with a glorious run down the length of the pitch during a 4-0 win over Peterborough, grabbing an assist at the end of it.

With five first-team appearances under his belt for Leeds, he should also require little time to settle when called upon, due to his familiarity of the situation.

Drameh admitted that he struggled to adjust to Bielsa’s demands, but now, everything is in place for him to thrive in Yorkshire next season.
