Noni Madueke is a player who hasn’t been mentioned much in the media in recent months, with the former Tottenham academy star spending the past four months out injured with PSV.
A muscle injury has kept the England youth international out of action for the best part of 116 days, yet this week saw Madueke make his long-awaited return to the senior picture with PSV as the teenager started against NAC Breda in the KNVB Cup.
Linked with a return to Tottenham in the summer as per the Daily Mail, Madueke had all the hallmarks of being Jadon Sancho 2.0, an English talent who took his qualities abroad and has flourished in doing so.
However, injuries have limited Madueke to just 13 starts in all competitions for PSV. But, after a lengthy absence, the attacker is back, and the youngster reintroduced himself in a big way this week in the Dutch Cup.
One goal, one assist; Madueke marvels in PSV return
Despite being on the injury table for months, Madueke played like he had been a regular all season, with the forward scoring a header just eight minutes in for PSV before the attacker capped off the half with an assist for Mario Gotze, the German’s second goal of the half.
With the attacker coming off at half-time, it was a job well done for the English attacker, who kicked off his return to first-team action with a brilliant 45 minutes as PSV cruised to a 4-0 win, and for Madueke, the performance could be huge.
The display took the teenager’s total tally for the season to seven goals and two assists in all competitions, and if Madueke can stay fit for the remainder of the campaign, the PSV no. 10 could have a year to remember with Tottenham keeping tabs on their former youth star.
With Spurs likely still keen on the attacker, Madueke could win himself a return back to north London should his fitness remain in tip-top shape and his form continues to improve from this stunning display for PSV.
