£19m striker who dreams of signing for Arsenal now set to join Pepe

Nicolas Pepe has completed his move from Arsenal to Trabzonspor and Southampton striker Paul Onuachu looks set to follow.

Paul Onuachu has arrived in Turkey to complete a medical ahead of joining Trabzonspor from Southampton.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Onuachu has arrived in Turkey today.

The plan is for Onuachu to sign for Trabzonspor on loan for the season an in an attempt to get his career back on track.

Southampton are happy for Onuachu to go and Trabzonspor should now complete his signature before their transfer deadline on Friday.

Paul Onuachu just hasn’t worked out for Southampton

Onuachu had carved out a reputation as a real goal machine before heading to Southampton.

The 29-year-old smashed 74 goals in 181 games for Danish side FC Midtjylland before heading to Genk in Belgium.

85 goals in 134 games there continued to build Onuachu’s reputation and Southampton pounced to sign him for £19million in January.

This move just hasn’t worked though with Onuachu yet to register a goal or assist for Southampton in 12 appearances.

This would be another major signing for Trabzonspor, who completed the signing of winger Nicolas Pepe from Arsenal this weekend.

Pepe, much like Onuachu, had become a misfit in England and they’re now heading to Turkey in an attempt to find their best form again.

If Onuachu had it all his way, he would have been playing alongside Pepe a long time ago.

Onuachu admitted in 2021 that he was an Arsenal fan growing up and dreamed of signing for the Gunners.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Kanu were Onuachu’s heroes growing up and following in their footsteps by joining Arsenal was a real dream.

That never happened with Arsenal never really showing an interest in Onuachu, but he will now hope to join Pepe and shine together in Turkey.
