AS Roma are now looking to add a second midfield signing this January, with Jose Mourinho now eyeing a move for FC Porto star and former Tottenham target Sergio Oliveira.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Portuguese manager is a fan of the 29-year-old midfielder, with Roma making an enquiry to Porto for the availability of Oliveira this January.
The 12-cap Portugal international was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer window, with Record even reporting that Oliveira was waiting for a move from the north London club to sign him from Porto.
Indeed, the midfielder was seemingly a target for former Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo. However, it now appears that Roma are the favourites for Oliveira this window, with Tottenham unlikely to make a move for the midfield dynamo.
With Oliveira and Mourinho both sharing the same agent in Jorge Mendes, there is the belief that a loan deal could be done quickly.
And this transfer could be a bargain, with A Bola reporting in the summer that Porto wanted £17m for the midfielder.
Roma are landing a steal in Oliveira, though Spurs shouldn’t be jealous

Oliveira has been one of the Portuguese league’s top midfielders over the past few years, and Roma signing the 29-year-old is another solid piece of business from Mourinho’s side. However, it’s hardly anything for Spurs to be jealous about.
There are bigger issues currently plaguing the Tottenham squad, such as a quality creative midfielder. And for all of Oliveira’s qualities, the Porto star wouldn’t bring much to Antonio Conte’s side that isn’t already there.
