Speculation is growing about Tottenham Hotspur‘s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg potentially being a target of a European superpower.

Danish outlet BT claimed in midweek, as covered by HITC Sport, that the Denmark international would be a perfect player for Real Madrid.

This comes on the back of speculation last month about Real wanting to sign the Tottenham midfielder.

Hojbjerg has been excellent for Spurs boss Antonio Conte this season.

But could he really join the Spanish giants? In a word, no.

That’s because simply put, Carlo Ancelotti does not need Hojbjerg at the Bernabeu.

Talented as the former Southampton midfielder – a £15 million signing in 2020 – is, and he’s definitely talented, but Real have better ones.

Even with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos aging, the European champions have Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni at the club and to be perfectly honest, signing the Tottenham player makes zero sense.

Yes, they have sold Casemiro, but the Dane is more of a box-to-box midfielder, evident by his two goals and two assists for the Lilywhites already this season.

Tchouameni and Camavinga are two of the continent’s most exciting young midfielders and excellent as Hojbjerg is, he’d be joining Ancelotti’s outfit as a squad player.

Many players would jump at the opportunity to even be signed by Real, regardless of playing time.

But the 27-year-old is coming into the prime of his career and even if they did want Hojbjerg, he wouldn’t want to waste his peak years on a bench.

So no, Tottenham fans need not worry about him leaving for Ancelotti’s side.
