Arsenal have confirmed that Sead Kolasinac will not be back in training until January.
The Arsenal left-back was the victim of a horror challenge on international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier this month.
In the process, Kolasinac, who earns £100,000 per week, has picked up a serious ankle injury.
And the Gunners have confirmed on their official website that he won’t be back this year.
A statement read: “Sead sustained a significant injury to his left ankle playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the November international period.
“Sead is progressing well in the early stages of his rehabilitation with the current aim to be back in full training in January.”
Bad news
This is a blow for Arsenal for two reasons.
Firstly, they’ll be without a player for the busiest and most hectic period in the Premier League season, even if he isn’t a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta.
But it’s also bad news because it scuppers the Gunners’ bid to offload him.
It had been reported that Kolasinac would be leaving North London in January but this development makes that unlikely.
As mentioned, Kolasinac is among Arsenal’s big earners and getting him off the wagebill would’ve been a welcome boost.
But now, none of the clubs linked to signing him – mainly Fenerbahce – are going to follow through until he’s 100 percent fit, which probably won’t be until after the window shuts.
