Celtic supporters remain steadfast despite their team’s third consecutive victory
Celtic may have won 4-0 on the road for the second time this month, but it’s not enough to relieve the pressure from fans on their manager.
Supporters continue to call for Neil Lennon’s dismissal, and posts from the official Celtic Twitter account are still being bombarded with negative responses.
That was the case again on Thursday morning, when the club posted a video wishing their Chinese supporters a Happy New Year.
The presence of two of the squad’s most popular players in David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro did little to fend off the inevitable replies.
These fans all entered the same words into Google Translate.
Goals from Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Turnbull helped Celtic to a convincing victory in Paisley, with the team’s third consecutive win meaning they move 18 points behind Rangers.
Lennon was delighted, with Record Sport quoting him as saying: “I thought we were outstanding. It looked like the Celtic team of this time last year – rampant, full of quality, full of running and full of goals.
“Coming here is always difficult but we could have won the game by five or six tonight comfortably.
“That was far more like us – you’re scratching your head and thinking ‘Where has it been all season?’.
“We’ve got more or less a clean bill of health at the minute, the players are playing a lot better. We look really strong.
That second half is the best we’ve played for quite a while, in terms of control and penetration, and having a real desire to score goals.
“It’s a great win, probably the best we’ve played here for a long time.
“I thought we could have won the game by more, wasn’t particularly pleased with our first half and I thought we gave the ball away under no pressure.
“I had a few words with them at half-time and in the second half I thought we were magnificent.”
