A report emanating from Spain today suggests that Real Madrid ace Dani Ceballos is keen on making a January switch to the Reds, according to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol.

Liverpool have already laid out £75 million on the signing of Virgil van Dijk this month, but they are expected to be heavily armed with cash shortly, what with Philippe Coutinho’s impending exit from the club.

Whilst Ceballos would not be a direct replacement for the Brazilian, he would provide more competition in the central midfield area, especially with it looking ever more likely that Emre Can will leave the club within the next six months.

Diario Gol claim that Ceballos has become disillusioned with his lack of game-time at the Bernabeu, and sees a switch to Anfield as a potentially positive move, as far as the prospects of his career are concerned.

With the January transfer window now open, this will be one for Liverpool fans to keep a close eye on.
