Everton travel to Middlesbrough this weekend looking to close the gap to the top six.
Everton go into their clash with Middlesbrough looking to close the gap between themselves and the top six. But would Toffees supporters be happy being considered the best of the rest if they ultimately finished seventh?
HITC Sport’s Michael Ramsey and James Rutherford believe that supporters may not necessarily be that happy about being the ones who simply lead the chasing pack.
HITC Sport’s James suggested: “For me, they’re going to finish seventh, they’re best of the rest. If you’re an Everton fan, are you happy about that or not?”
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
“I think they’re good enough that there’s a bit of hope that they can get into the top six,” Michael responded.
Ronald Koeman’s men arguably have the perfect chance to keep the pressure on the top six this weekend as they face a Middlesbrough side that have been dragged into the six-team relegation battle, having not won in the league since mid-December.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
No team has scored fewer times than Aitor Karanka’s side and that fact could be particularly costly as they face an Everton side that put six past Bournemouth in their last game and four past Manchester City last month.
That success has partially been down to the incredible form of Romelu Lukaku, who scored four against the Cherries to take his tally for the season to 22 for club and country.
Ronald Koeman insists he never changed his mind about Everton midfielder James McCarthy
But will he add to his tally this weekend? And will Everton do all they can to put pressure on the top six? To find out the guys’ thoughts in full, as well as their predictions, simply watch the preview at the top of the page…
