Gianfranco Zola gave his take on Chelsea midfielder and reported Arsenal target Jorginho on Sky Sports News (12:08pm, October 5, 2020).

The Chelsea legend praised the 28-year-old Italy international midfielder and outlined his attributes.

Zola also said that if he were the manager of the Blues now, then he would not sell the former Napoli star.

According to ESPN, Arsenal want to sign Jorginho from Premier League rivals Chelsea on summer transfer deadline day after failing to bring in Houssem Aouar from Lyon.

The Mirror has also claimed of interest in the Italian from the Gunners, but the publication has reported that Chelsea do not want to let him go today.

Zola said about Jorginho on Sky Sports News (12:08pm, October 5, 2020): “Jorgo is not a player who has got a lot of physicality, a lot of mobility, so he cannot cover a huge space of ground, but he is very intelligent, he is always in the right places, and if he has got somebody who can help him, then he can make a big difference because when you give the ball to him, he always dictates the right passes, always available to support players that have the ball, that are in trouble.

“In that kind of things Jorgo is unique, so it’s just about getting the best out of him.”

The Italian added when asked if Chelsea should keep Jorginho: “As I told you, it depends on what they want to do. If I am the manager and have a player like Jorgo, I will always like to keep him. It depends very much on what the manager wants.”

Unlikely transfer

Anything can happen on transfer deadline day, but it is hard to see Chelsea sell Jorginho today, especially to a direct rival for the Champions League places.

The Italian is a very good midfielder who has done well for the Blues, and one suspects that even if manager Frank Lampard does not see him as a regular starter in his team, he will use him as the season progresses, as he gives him a very good option.
