Zinedine Zidane has suggested to a press conference, quoted by The Daily Mail, that he expects Cristiano Ronaldo to be fit for the Champions League final with Liverpool on May 26.

The Portuguese superstar suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona, resulting in him being substituted at half time.

Naturally, it would be an enormous boost for Liverpool if the 33-year-old – who has 15 goals in 12 Champions League outings this season – was absent for the showpiece against Jurgen Klopp’s side in Kiev later this month.

But Zidane has suggested that he will be okay to face the Reds, adding that he is already walking.

“They are all going to arrive at the Champions League final. “The worst is Cristiano, because it’s just happened, but he’s fine,” he said via The Daily Mail.

It’s incredible that he’s already walking after 48 hours. That shows his ambition, his desire to want to play. It would be perfect if he was able to play against Villarreal.”

Liverpool’s equivalent to Ronaldo is undoubtedly Mo Salah, the Egyptian winger who has 42 goals in all competitions this season.

And the Real boss has admitted his admiration for the 25-year-old livewire.

ZIdane added: “It’s an English team who know how to fight. But there’s a while to go yet and I’m not going to go into details. Salah is a great player and has had a great season.”

Beating Real in Ukraine would represent Liverpool’s sixth European Cup title, but Zidane’s side, who have won the competition in each of the past two seasons, certainly have the pedigree to make it three in a row.
