Celtic signed Olivier Ntcham from Manchester City earlier this month, and his decision is praised by Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has told The Daily Record that Olivier Ntcham has made the right decision in joining Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Ntcham recently moved to Scottish Premiership powerhouse Celtic from Premier League giants Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Bhoys had to pay the Citizens a transfer fee of around £4.5 million in order to secure the services of the 21-year-old midfielder.

Although the youngster failed to break into the City first team, the France Under-21 international played well and made encouraging progress during his loan spell at Italian club Genoa over the past two seasons.

Madrid head coach Zidane, who is one of the greatest footballers and is a true legend of the game, has given his take on his French compatriot’s decision to join Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

“The most important thing for a player of that age is to be playing regularly – and if you can be playing regularly for a club that is in the Champions League, then that is even better because you can test yourself at the very top level,” Zidane told The Daily Record about Ntcham.

“It is very difficult to break into a club like Manchester City as a young player – as there is so much pressure on the clubs for instant success.

“Celtic is the perfect club for him to mature and grow as a player – I am sure he looked at the season Dembele had and that is something he wants to replicate.”

Celtic won the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup last season, and did not lose a single domestic match.

The Glasgow giants will be aiming to repeat their heroics of last season during the 2017-18 campaign.
