According to The Mirror, former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is not interested in becoming the new manager of Newcastle United.
What’s the story?
The Mirror have reported that Newcastle’s new owners are interested in bringing Zidane to St. James’ Park.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are reportedly looking for a new manager to replace Steve Bruce with.
Zidane, who left his managerial job at Spanish and European giants Madrid at the end of last season, is reportedly among the candidates.
However, according to the report, the France legend does not want to take charge of Newcastle.
Why?
Well, because the 49-year-old believes that he could become the France manager.
Zidane has ‘rebuffed soundings’ from Newcastle, according to the report.

Unlikely Newcastle United move
We do not think that Zidane will go to Newcastle.
Newcastle are just starting their mega-project, and that is unlikely to appeal to the Frenchman.
Zidane’s only senior role in management was at Madrid where he won the Champions League title three years in a row.

Cristiano Ronaldo, now at Manchester United, worked with the Frenchman at the Santiago Bernabeu and raved about him.
Eurosport quoted Ronaldo as saying about Zidane in August 2019: “The confidence that a player needs doesn’t only come from himself but also from the players around him and the coach.
“He helped me a lot. I already had a lot of respect for him but working with him made me admire him more.
“That’s because of what he’s like as a person, how he talks, how he led the team and how he treated me.”
Zidane has worked with world-class players such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in his managerial career so far.
Newcastle right now are unlikely to be tempting for him.
