Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has spoken about Gareth Bale, as the winger reportedly looks set to join Tottenham Hotspur, as quoted in Marca this afternoon (12:19pm, September 19, 2020).

Zidane has said that Bale is a “spectacular” player, and has stated that he wishes him the best of luck if he returns to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are on the verge of securing the services of the Wales international winger on a loan deal.

Zidane told Marca about Bale this afternoon: ”Now there are negotiations. I know what Gareth has done in this team. In the end, these things can happen.

“The only thing I can say is that it is not signed. What he has done nobody is going to discuss. If now there’s a change for him, I just wish him well.”

The Frenchman added: “It is also what he wants to do and I am not going to go into that matter. These are things that happen in football. I have always said that the player has been spectacular.”

Gareth Bale would be superb for Tottenham Hotspur

During his time at Madrid following his move from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, Bale has won La Liga twice and the Champions League as many as four times.

However, for the past two seasons, the Wales international has had injury problems, and he struggled to play regularly under Zidane in 2019-20, as Los Blancos won the La Liga title.

It could take a while for the Welshman to get to full match fitness, but when he does, he will be a force to be reckoned with and will make Tottenham a much better team in attack.
