Back in the summer, Newcastle sent Yoshinori Muto to Eibar on a season-long loan deal as Steve Bruce looked to trim his squad.
It looked like a sensible deal, seeing as the Japanese forward was struggling for game-time at St James’ Park under the ex-Sunderland boss.
Last term, Muto made just two Premier League starts and eight league appearances in total, failing to score a single goal.
Despite having a fresh start in La Liga this term, he is still seriously struggling in front of goal.
Muto has made six league appearances for the Spanish outfit so far, and is yet to score or even assist a goal.
Alarmingly, the 28-year-old is barely even testing opposition goalkeepers, averaging just 0.5 shots per appearance according to WhoScored.
That works out at a total of three shots from Muto across the entirety of the league campaign so far, which simply isn’t good enough.
What is also worrying is the fact that José Luis Mendilibar also seems to be losing patience with him.
The Eibar manager has started Muto on the bench in the club’s last two games against Cadiz and SD Huesca.
That comes after the former Mainz attacker started three consecutive La Liga games against Elche, Real Valladolid and Osasuna.
Muto is yet to win a La Liga game during his loan spell.
