Leeds United were linked with a move for Ze Luis in January.

Spartak Moscow striker Ze Luis has told Sports.ru in Russia that he would like to play in Englan amid shock links to Leeds United.

The Cape Verde international, 28, has been featuring for Spartak since a 2015 move from Braga, and is enjoying his best goal season yet for the Russian club.

Ze Luis has hit 11 goals so far this season, which is the same amount he has scored in the past two seasons combined.

He has attracted interest in the past, with The Mirror reporting in January 2018 that Brighton were ready to pay a huge £20million for Ze Luis.

Late last month, rumours about his future in Moscow emerged again, as Championat reported that Leeds United wanted to sign Ze Luis in a huge deal.

It was stated that Leeds were ready to pay €12million (£10.5million) for Ze Luis, but Spartak weren’t prepared to sell, so no deal was done before January’s deadline.

Leeds spending so much on Ze Luis would have been a shock, but he may well be somebody on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar if the Whites win promotion this season.

Now, Ze Luis has revealed that he is flattered by the interest in him but is committed to Spartak, though did add that he has an interest in playing in England too, which may boost Leeds if they do want him.

“It’s nice to know that other clubs are interested in you.,” said Ze Luis. “I can assure everyone that I am a Spartak player and I intend to fulfil my contract with the club completely. If in the future sometime there comes an offer that will interest all parties, and the club, and me, then we will sit down and talk. But at the moment I am a Spartak player.”

“I like the English league, I’ve never denied it. On the other hand, not blinded by this idea. I do my job and time will tell,” he added.
