After making his return to the English game, Zan Benedicic has told Leyton Orient’s official website that while his loan spell at Leeds United did not go to plan, he enjoyed the experience.

The Slovenian has joined the League Two side until January, the club’s official website has confirmed. And while Orient supporters would be forgiven for not knowing much about the 20-year-old, they are not the first Football League club he has joined, having spent some time at Elland Road two seasons ago.

However, his spell with the Whites was hugely underwhelming as a knee injury sustained in the early part of the campaign meant that he made just two appearances for the club in all competitions (via Yorkshire Evening Post).

And after completing his switch to the Matchroom Stadium, he explained that he jumped at the chance to return to England, and hinted that he had unfinished business following his time with the Peacocks.

“Every player wants to come and play in England as it is the best place to be,” he told the club’s official website.

“When I went to Leeds injury prevented me from playing as much as I hoped and it did not go entirely to plan, but it was still a good experience.”

Having spent time at AC Milan before his spell with Leeds, and collected a handful of caps for Slovenia’s under-21 side, it is clear that Benedicic has potential.

However, having failed to make much of an impression during his time in Yorkshire, and having only signed a short-term deal with the Orient, he surely needs to make an instant impact to ensure that his second spell in England lasts considerably longer.
