Why Wilfried Zaha’s new role at Crystal Palace could make them the ideal destination for Newcastle’s Rolando Aarons.

Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town are the other two sides, with Aarons linked with a move away from St James’ Park having failed to assert himself under manager Rafa Benitez.

The 22-year-old has made just three first team appearances this season, with the only start coming in the 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Therefore Aarons may well be tempted with a move and the promise of more first team football and the transition of Palace under boss Roy Hodgson in recent times could make them the ideal choice.
In a bid to get the Eagles out of trouble Hodgson has gone back to basics with a 4-4-2 formation, but has switched things up somewhat to convert Wilfried Zaha into a striker and is playing the Ivorian alongside Christian Benteke.

This has freed up a role on the wing, which are currently being occupied by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andros Townsend – the latter of whom also spending time upfront at points this term.
With Zaha now playing further up the pitch Aarons may now think that game time will be more likely to occur at Selhurst Park and he certainly fits the bill for the pacey attacker that runs in behind that Hodgson seems to favour.
