Simon Jordan has shared that in an ‘ideal world’ rumoured Leeds and Newcastle target, Ben Brereton Diaz, would be used in a ‘Wilfried Zaha-like scenario’, as he told talkSPORT.

The Blackburn striker has struck 20 Championship goals this season and he is a wanted man by several Premier League clubs.

On one hand, Blackburn don’t want to lose the player in January because they are pushing for promotion, but on the other, they could make a big chunk of money from selling him next month.

During the January transfer window of 2013, Palace, who were chasing promotion to the Premier League, sold their star player, Zaha, to Manchester United, but loaned him straight back and he helped them earn promotion.

Former Palace owner and pundit, Jordan, thinks that would be the ‘ideal’ situation for Brerorton Diaz and Blackburn amid the interest in his service.

“If I am Blackburn, I am looking at this going ‘how compelling are the offers’,” said Jordan.

“Brighton and Leeds. Okay, what are they buying him for? I would like to know because it might give me an opportunity to sell him, then loan him back for the rest of the season and help me finish the job I have got.

“What I would like to do, in an ideal world, is the Wilfried Zaha scenario which is what Manchester United did when they bought Zaha from Palace. Paid £13 million. Loaned him back. He goes back to Palace. Scores the winning goal in the play-off semi-final against Brighton. And next thing you know, they are in the Premier League.

“By the same token, you can also position the player and say ‘if you are going to continue in this vein of form, then you might get a move in the summer that might supersede Brighton and Leeds’.”

Whilst that’s an ‘ideal’ situation for Blackburn, it wouldn’t be for clubs like Leeds and Newcastle, who want to sign him, according to Eurosport.

The reason why they are pushing for his talents is because they need goals and added quality in their quest to fight off relegation.

There is no point in either team paying such big bucks for a player and then getting him when they are relegated.

Perhaps another Premier League side, higher up the league, that’s willing to wait, could strike such a deal, but either way, the Chile star has a big decision to make about his future during these coming weeks.
