Wilfried Zaha verbally commits future to Crystal Palace so should Spurs target Riyad Mahrez of Leicester instead?

Any hopes Tottenham Hotspur had of signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace this summer seem to have been dashed by the player himself.
As football.london reports, Spurs join Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to sign Zaha, but the forward says his future is with the Eagles.

“I have no plans on leaving. I’m enjoying my football, you can see how much I’m enjoying it. This is my home and there’s no reason for me to leave,” the 25-year-old told the club’s official website.
What now?
If Tottenham are still hoping to sign a player in the attacking midfield role that Zaha operates in, then perhaps Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City should be on their radar.
The Citizens still hold an interest in Mahrez too, according to the Leicester Mercury, after trying to sign the Algeria international during the January transfer window.

They offered £50m plus Patrick Roberts, whom they valued at £15m, for the 27-year-old but it was turned down with the Foxes wanting £80m.
Whether that remains the asking price for Mahrez is unknown and beating City to the African would be a tough ask for the North Londoners, but with 10 assists and 12 goals in the Premier League this term it is arguably a fight worth taking on.
