Glasgow Rangers announced that Zac Butterworth has signed a contract set to keep him at Ibrox until 2021.

Zac Butterworth has taken to Twitter to express his excitement for the future after it was announced that he has signed a new contract at Rangers that is set to keep him at Ibrox until 2021.
The 17-year-old is one of the many talented prospects currently coming through with the Scottish Premiership side, and the club have now confirmed on one of their official Twitter accounts that he has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Gers.
And Butterworth – who was born a week after Fabrice Fernandes and Bob Malcolm helped Rangers come from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park in March 2001 – was quick to take to social media himself to comment on agreeing fresh terms…
The new deal will be particularly exciting for Butterworth given that Steven Gerrard has ensured that the path between the academy and first-team is very much open.

Serge Atakayi, Stephen Kelly and Glenn Middleton have all made their senior debuts this season. The young midfielder may not be ready to follow in their footsteps just yet, but the door is definitely open.
And with Rangers handing him a deal that runs until 2021, the Gers clearly see something in Butterworth that suggests that he is a player to keep an eye on in the coming years.
