Gary Neville has said on ITV Sport that Leeds United fans will be devastated with Nigel De Jong’s suggestion that Kalvin Phillips could leave.
Phillips’ reputation has increased exponentially after England’s opener against Croatia.
The Leeds man shone in midfield, as he claimed an assist for Raheem Sterling’s goal.
Phillips was quickly linked with Real Madrid after the game (Defensa Central).
And De Jong suggested that he could see the Leeds enforcer departing at some stage soon.
“If he performs like that he will be undroppable for Southgate and it’s enjoyable for me to see,” he said.
“Potential to be a regular starter for England and a potentially a bigger team in the future. I don’t want to upset any Leeds fans!”
But Neville quickly responded, saying: “You’ve just absolutely devastated them!”

Going nowhere
Leeds fans, of course, would be gutted if Phillips was to leave, but they appear to have no reason to be concerned right now.
Leeds have progressed hugely recently, and have ambitions to continue moving forward in the coming years.
If that is to be the case then Phillips is unlikely to have his head turned.
Phillips is Leeds born and bred and has great loyalty to the Elland Road club, where he has spent his whole career so far.
