West Bromwich Albion’s attempts to bounce straight back to the Premier League fell short last night.

The Baggies lost a penalty shootout at the Hawthorns, after a 2-2 aggregate result.

The team had finished the season with 80 points, in fourth place.

Former star Youssouf Mulumbu sent a message to the club on Twitter expressing his sadness at the way they fell short.

He also described his confidence that West Brom will be back in the top flight before long.

While West Brom have one of the strongest squads in the Championship, the big question is who will be in the dugout next season.

Darren Moore was controversially sacked in March and Jimmy Shan installed as caretaker boss.

While he steadied the ship and helped the team into the play-offs, the club are now expected to come up with an alternative plan.
