Joe Hart has shared details of a ruthless conversation he had with Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

The veteran English goalkeeper joined Tottenham on a free transfer under Jose Mourinho during the summer of 2020.

However, Hart only lasted one season with the Lilywhites.

After Mourinho was sacked and Nuno was appointed, the latter decided that he had zero plans for the 34-year-old.

Here’s what Hart told In The Stiffs: “He just went: ‘I would not feel comfortable with you playing one minute for me. The ball’s too quick for you, you’re too old, you’re not moving, you’ve got no strength in your body’.”

Were Tottenham right to axe Hart?

Honestly, not really.

The former England international wound up joining Celtic for £1 million and seems far happier in Scotland with Ange Postecoglou.

As for Spurs, well they signed Pierluiigi Gollini to replace Hart at Hotspur Way and the Italian, despite being a lot younger, hasn’t impressed.

Fortunately for Tottenham, Gollini is only on loan and at this stage it’s clear that Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte – who replaced sacked Nuno – won’t be signing him on a permanent basis.

Despite playing in an inferior league, Hart could and probably will win a lot more trophies at Celtic than he would have with the Lilywhites, having already picked up one piece of silverware this season.
