Speaking on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel, Patrick Vieira has been waxing-lyrical about Fabinho.

The Crystal Palace boss was asked to name which Premier League player reminds him most of himself during his playing days, and Fabinho was one player he wanted to give credit to.

Vieira had nothing but good things to say about Fabinho, describing him as a team player who doesn’t necessarily get the recognition he deserves, while also praising his ball-playing abilities.

What’s been said?

Vieira had plenty of praise for Fabinho.

“Fabinho from Liverpool, I think he’s a team player who is working really hard to compose the hold in the team, he can play as well, he’s really comfortable on the ball. He’s a type of player you’re not going to notice, but they make everyone around them look really good,” Vieira said.

Future debate

Fabinho still has plenty of his career to run, but it wouldn’t surprise us at all if Fabinho vs Patrick Vieira is a future debate when it comes to the discussing of the greatest Premier League midfielders of all-time.

These two almost perfected their roles, with Vieira being the ultimate box-to-box midfield destroyer and Fabinho being the best in the world at anchoring one of the most energetic football teams we’ve ever seen in Europe.

Usually, when the Premier League all-time XI is discussed the likes of Vieira, Roy Keane and Claude Makelele are brought up as holding midfield options, but it wouldn’t surprise us at all if Fabinho works his way into that conversation when all is said and done.

The Brazilian is an absolutely fantastic player, and while his contributions at Liverpool aren’t always noticed, he’s always missed when he’s not on the pitch.
