‘You’re joking’: Some fans annoyed at announcement on Tottenham 28-year-old

Wales fans are annoyed that Tottenham defender Ben Davies has had to withdraw from their international fixtures due to ‘illness’, as they confirmed on Twitter.

Game time has been limited for Davies at Spurs this season and he’s now going to have to watch on from the sidelines for his country.

It’s probably more frustrating for the player himself, more than anyone else because of those lack of minutes he has had.

But Wales supporters have now questioned who will start at left-back for them ahead of a number of crucial games.

On Friday, they take on the Czech Republic in a crucial World Cup qualifier, before another important away trip, this time to Estonia.

Wales needed every bit of experience out on that pitch, especially given that their star man Gareth Bale is missing through injury.

Wins are needed for Rob Page’s men, so any player, especially one with the Premier League pedigree of Davies, missing out does hurt that more than others.

From Tottenham’s selfish standpoint, it’s one less player to worry about, and he should be fresh for their returning game after the international break, which is against Newcastle.

If Serge Reguilon returns back from Spain duty in one piece, then he will be expected to start because Davies has fallen behind the player in the left-back pecking order.
