Calum Chambers has remarkably shared that Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover told him that he was ‘going to score from your first touch’ during their 1-0 win against Leeds on Tuesday night, as he told Sky Sports.
Just before the hour mark, Ben White could no longer continue for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta opted to bring Chambers into the fold.
Within ten seconds of coming onto the pitch, Chambers was wheeling away in jubilation because he headed the ball into the back of the net for Arsenal from a corner.
He then ran straight towards the substitutes bench and celebrated with the staff.
But Chambers shared that, it was the set-piece coach he was celebrating with, because of what he had told him just before he came onto the pitch.
“I believe Nico (Nicolas Jover), the set-piece coach said ‘you are going to score from your first touch’,” said Chambers.
“So, that’s why I went running over to him. It was a good and a nice moment. I was pretty confident it went over, so I was just waiting for him to give it.”
What a week it has been for Arsenal and one that could prove to be defining during these coming months for the Gunners.
