Simon Jordan has stated that he ‘can’t fathom’ why Dele Alli has fallen off the footballing cliff after leaving Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Crystal Palace owner referenced back to Alli’s actions during Tottenham’s All or Nothing documentary when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

During that series, Mourinho was critical of Alli for being a ‘rubbish’ trainer, although he used more colourful words.

When Alli left Spurs for Everton on transfer deadline day, Jordan highlighted that moment from the documentary and slammed the player’s actions at the time.

The talkSPORT pundit was critical for Alli thinking it was a ‘joke’ and stated that he is ‘either stupid’, he either ‘doesn’t care’ or it’s a case of ‘the both’.

“For the love of God,” said Jordan. “You can’t fathom why for the last two years, he hasn’t been able to get himself out of whatever rut he has got himself into.

“Or maybe we all sat here pumping this kid up to a level that he never was at. That might be true.

“You saw that All or Nothing series that was put out on Amazon. Mourinho is saying to Dele Alli ‘you train awfully’ and Dele Alli thinks it’s a joke.

“You are a professional footballer. Your manager is telling you that you train awfully and you think that’s funny. Now, you are either stupid or you don’t care. Or the combination of them both.”

That All or Nothing documentary, which also included Mourinho sitting down with Alli and warning him that he has to buckle up, might come back to bite him in the back.

The 2018 World Cup semi-finalist is out of the Spurs bubble and if it continues to go wrong at Goodison, then there will be serious worry about whether he can get back to his best.

But if he can start finding that goalscoring touch again, then he may well make the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He still has a lot to do, but Jesse Lingard proved whilst on loan at West Ham last season, that six months can be enough to get yourself back into the Three Lions set-up.
