The 2022/23 season is now at a close and Chris Sutton was taking part in his final ‘simulation game’, which involved a certain Said Benrahma following West Ham United’s Europa Conference League win.

It has been nearly a week since David Moyes guided West Ham United to their first major trophy in 43 years, with Said Benrahma opening the scoring via the penalty spot, before Jarrod Bowen’s historic late winner.

But whilst those in Claret and Blue were jumping with joy at their win, on Sunday, whilst speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport on 606, Sutton handed Benrahma with ‘another trophy’ for diving during the game, which he was booked for, and told him that he is ‘better than that’.

West Ham fans won’t care one jot because every player would do everything to get that advantage, especially in a final and every fan would want their team to do just that.

Of course, if it’s against your side, then you are screaming like mad and throwing verbal insults.

And given that former Premier League striker Sutton was looking at this from the outside, then he was critical of Benrahma’s recent actions.

“The winner of the simulation game is Benrahma,” said Sutton.”Benrahma drama, come on, Said. You are better than that.

“You won a trophy West Ham and you also won another trophy, Benrahma that you don’t want to win. So, just stop it. You have had a good season. Scored some really important goals. And important penalties. You are better than that.”

Benrahma writes his name into West Ham’s legendary books

Whilst many, and understandably so, will be looking back and talking about that late Bowen winner, a certain Benrahma shouldn’t be forgotten about.

The Morocco star showcased real nerve and steel by putting away that penalty which opened the scoring for the Hammers.

It set the tone and the platform for history to be created, which the West Ham fans won’t forget about for a long, long time coming.
