Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Liverpool’s title chances this season with his co-host Joel Beya.

The Reds once again showed their title credentials this weekend by hammering Southampton 4-0, and Beya believes that the Reds are on track to reclaim their crown as champions.

However, Ferdinand isn’t quite on-board with the suggestion that the Reds are the runaway favourites for the title, although he did concede that they will be in the race.

What’s been said about Liverpool?

Ferdinand got into a debate with his co-host about the Reds’ chances of winning the league.

“Let’s talk now about Liverpool, the real challengers for the league, the real team that are doing the business in the league,” Ferdinand’s co-host Joel Beya said.

“You’re an idiot, man you’re upping your levels, the tone of your voice has changed,” Ferdinand said.

“They’ve got to be the champions this year, Liverpool, surely?”

“No. I don’t know, they will be up there and they will have a chance, they’ve got too much in their team not to be fighting for this title, Salah is on a mad level and Jota has banged in two like it’s nothing,” Ferdinand concluded.

He’s right

Liverpool have a great chance of winning the league this year, and it wouldn’t surprise us if they ended up with a huge points haul, but sadly, Ferdinand is right to shoot down the suggestion that they are definitely going to be champions.

Liverpool aren’t even top of the league right now, and they have the reigning Premier League and European champions to contend with. There are two incredibly strong teams in the league this season, and it’s almost impossible to predict.

The Reds have a great chance, but, in our view, it’s way too early to be calling them favourites for the title.
